The inscription then records that during the sixth regnal year of the predecessor of the king (periyedēvar), viz., Vikramachōḻa (1124 A.D.), Arumbākiļār Toṇḍaiman and Avür-uḍaiyur Sōlakōnār made gifts of twelve kāśu each for burning two perpetual lamps. These two earlier transactions were recorded in stone during the time of Rājarāja II though the gift was made earlier, ie, during the reign of Vikramachōḻa.Sep 02, 2026 -

InscriptionThis inscription begins with the meykīrtti of the chōḻa king Rājadhirāja II, Pūmannu padumam, the immediate predecessor of Kulōttunga III. The latter king adopted the first few times lines of the meykīrtti of Rājadhirāja in his inscriptions that were issued in the beginning years of his reign. Students of chōḻa history are aware of the fact that Rājarāja II (1146-1173 A.D.), the father of Kulōttunga III, had chosen his nephew Neriyuḍaiyapperumāḷ to succeed him as his two sons were too young to occupy the chōḻa throne. Accordingly Neriyuḍaipperumāḷ ascended the throne with his coronation name Rājadhirāja in 1166 A.D. and ruled for sixteen years ie. 1182 A.D. Rājadhirāja II passed on the throne to his cousin, Kulottunga in 1178 A.D. when the latter came of the age. Both Rājadhirāja II and Kulōttunga III jointly ruled the chōḻa kingdom for four years (1178-1182 A.D.). Hence, the inscriptions that were issued in the early years of Kulottunga III contain a portion of the meykīrtti of Rājadhirāja II in the first few lines followed by his own meykīrtti . According to N. Sethuraman, this is an expression of the gratitude of king Kulottunga III for Rājadhirāja II's loyalty to the chōḻa kingdom, See N. Sethuraman, Sankarachōḻan ulā Kulōttunga chōḻan-ula pāṭṭuḍaittalaivarga! (1989). This inscription is damaged and incomplete and it records that a lady. . . . . ḍārch chāni, wife of Andan Bhaṭṭaṉ son of Uḍumbai Maṇavālapperumāḷ of Nagarīśvarach-chaturvedimaṅgalam, consecrated an image of the god, Tiruchchattīmurram- uḍaiyār in the 29th regnal year of the king (1207 A.D.) in the temple of Tiru- vīraṭṭāṇam-uḍaiyār at Vaḻugūr, a brahmadēya village in Tiruvaḻundūr-nāḍu, a sub- division of Jayangondasōla-vaḷanāḍu. She is also stated to have gifted an amount of 13,200 kāśu to the temple to meet the expenses relating to the consecration, and the expenses for daily offerings and worship and also for the performance of other rituals. This amount was deposited in the temple treasury and the interest was meant to provide for these expenses. But for some reasons the charity was hindered from continuing, commencing from Air pasi-vishu, and she appears them to have made gift of a further fourteen-thousand kāśu. The temple officials śrīmāhēśvarakkaṇkāṇi, śrīkāriyam cheyvar, and devakanmi appear to have undertaken to carry out the charity.Sep 02, 2026 -

The lands already earmarked for garden and tirumaḍaiviḻaga m were excluded from the present grant. Further it is also mentioned that taxes like antarayan were waived from the 13th regnal year to the 17th regnal year.
